Transition Pemberton has helped create the Vic Conte Community Garden adjacent to the Uniting Church in Pemberton, on land generously provided by the church. The name is in remembrance of a dedicated and well respected community member and home gardener.
Pemberton District High School has developed a kitchen garden program with funding from the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation. It is one of the most popular programs in the school. We have aquaponics, raised garden beds, two hothouses and a nursery as well as a dedicated kitchen and food preparation area.
Transition Initiative These communities have started up projects in areas of food, transport, energy, education, housing, waste, arts etc. as small-scale local responses to the global challenges of climate change, economic hardship and shrinking supplies of cheap energy.
